Message from Head of School: As you will be aware, the DfE has stated that Year 10 students will receive some “face to face” contact with their teachers during Term 6. Currently, we are awaiting guidance from the DfE as to what this means in practice. Once the guidance is published we will develop our plans and make the necessary arrangements. On June 1st we will write to you explaining what “face to face” means in practice and we will be in a position to confirm when this will commence. Please note that the current arrangements for online teaching for Years 10 will continue until further notice

Post 16 Transition

 Preparation for Post-16 Education

Causeway School is a “Raising the Participation Age” champion school a status awarded to us in recognition of the excellent work that we do in preparing our young people for the next steps in their compulsory education.

We are proud of each and every one of our students and we want the very best for them as they move on from here to college or work with training.

Causeway students are encouraged to have high aspirations and are made aware of the wide range of routes and courses available to them in the local area. We work closely with all local Post-16 education providers who, between them can offer a huge range of courses across all levels of study.

Information, advice and guidance towards Post-16 choices is delivered through PSHE lessons, in small groups with individual tutors and one-to-one by highly qualified YMCA CONNECT advisors.

By working closely with the people who know them and the system best we are able to direct our students towards the best course for them at the best time in the best place. This could be a highly academic A’ level course, work with training or a vocational course.

A significant number of Causeway students go on to continue with their studies at higher education, university level. We work together with the University of Sussex to begin to prepare our students for this from year nine with university visits and sample study sessions. Past Causeway students have recently been awarded degrees in Oceanography, Business and Economics, Music and Education. These are all huge achievements for the young people and we congratulate them.
