Twenty four students went on an incredible three night residential trip to Sorrento in the Easter holiday. Students visited the iconic sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum where they were given extensive knowledge of the sites by expert guides. Students understood the different effects that resulted in the 79AD eruption witnessing the bodies that have been preserved as a result of the pyroclastic flows. They visited other archaeological sites and went into the picturesque town of Sorrento and around the Port. On the last day they visited Vesuvius which dominates the Gulf of Naples. Students walked to the immense crater rim and were able to take in the surroundings and the potential risk faced by the one million people living in the shadow. Students were enthusiastic and inquisitive about the different sites, enjoyed the Italian food and were exceptional ambassadors for Causeway School.
