Schools Strike 4 Climate Action: Friday 15th March 2019

Release date - 11-Mar-2019

Parents may have read in the media about proposed strike action on Friday 15th March 2019 for students to draw attention to climate change and urge Government leaders to take action. The campaign has been inspired by 15-year-old Swedish student Greta Thunberg, who has been missing lessons every Friday to protest outside the Swedish Parliament. #schoolstrike4climate

Please be advised that any student absence from school to take part in the strike action will be recorded as anunauthorised absence. Please also inform your child that studentswill not beable to engage in any form of protest in school on this day either, as this disrupts learning, especially for our Year 11 at a pivotal time in their examination preparation.

Instead our MP, Stephen LLoyd, will be visiting The Eastbourne Academy on 22nd March 2019 where he will be presented with a letter and will meet student representatives as part of this visit which will draw attention to the Government more effectively. If Causeway School students wish to protest they are encouraged to write to their MP, Stephen Lloyd, and we will ensure their letters are presented by a student representative. This issue will continue to be routinely addressed within SPHERE lessons at Causeway School.
